Climate and best time to visit

The Netherlands enjoys a temperate climate, with relatively mild summers and moderately cold winters. The best time to visit, if you’d like to see the country’s tulips in bloom, is roughly mid-March to mid-May. Generally speaking, temperatures rise the further south you go. This is offset by the prevailing westerly’s that sweep in from the North Sea, making the wetter coastal provinces both warmer in winter and colder in summer than the eastern provinces, where the more severe climate of continental Europe has an influence.  As far as rain is concerned, be prepared for it at any time of year.

Rotterdam

The Hague

Leiden

Is a city and municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland. Has been one of Europe's most prominent scientific centers for more than 4 centuries. It is a typical university city, university buildings are scattered throughout the city and many students from all over the world give the city a bustling, vivid and international atmosphere. Many important scientific discoveries have been made there, giving rise to Leiden’s motto: ‘City of Discoveries’.

In the Netherlands you will be able to take a stroll in the beautiful town of Leiden, near Amsterdam, a historic city full of 17th century buildings, with many magnificent parks, and there is also a small museum that attracts tourists.

Giethoorn

Called the "Venice of the North" or the city of Giethoorn, a charming place with many picturesque canals, with no cars allowed in the town center. This peaceful town will give you the opportunity to relax by renting a small boat and spending the day among charming houses in the Netherlands rifle.

Kinderdijk

Is a village in the Netherlands, belonging to the municipality of Molenwaard, in the province South Holland.

Kinderdijk is situated in a polder in the Alblasserwaard at the confluence of the Lek and Noord rivers. To drain the polder, a system of 19 windmills was built around 1740. This group of mills is the largest concentration of old windmills in the Netherlands. The windmills of Kinderdijk are one of the best-known Dutch tourist sites. They have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.

Groningen

It is the largest city in the north of the Netherlands. An old city, Groningen was the regional power of the northern Netherlands, a semi-independent city-state and member of the German Hanseatic League. Groningen is a university city: it houses the University of Groningen (with about 30,000 students)

Gouda

Undeniably the most famous Dutch cheese, Gouda can be savored in its entire splendor at the Gouda Kaasmarkt throughout the summer months, when farmers, Dutch Cheese Girls and Boys, as well as huge wheels of Gouda bring to life the fairytale-like city, offering visitors a genuine spectacle.

Amersfoort

It is a municipality and the second largest city of the province of Utrecht in central Netherlands. The city is growing quickly but has a well-preserved and protected medieval centre. Amersfoort is one of the largest railway junctions in the country, because of its location on two of the Netherlands' main east-west and north-south rail lines.

Lisse

The most popular attraction in Lisse is Keukenhof, open only during spring when the tulips are flowering. Also each spring a flower parade called the Bollenstreek Bloemencorso is held through the main streets of Lisse. In August the fantasy festival Castlefest is held in the gardens of Castle Keukenhof.

Zaanse Schans

The Zaanse Schans is one of the popular tourist attractions of the Netherlands and an anchor point of ERIH, the European Route of Industrial Heritage. The neighbourhood attracted approximately 1.6 million visitors in 2014 

The Zaans Museum locates next to the Zaanse Schans. The Zaanse Schans houses seven museums: The Weavers House, the Cooperage, the Jisper House, Zaan Time Museum, Albert Heijn Museumshop, Bakery Museum.
